By AR-ogant bast-AR-d On 09/21/2009  I picked my CMMG up about 4 months ago for roughly 820.00. At the time I had little, well, no knowlege of CMMG. I was hell bent on getting an AR that day as long as it fit my specific requirements, a 16inch barrel, flat top with pic rail, adjustable stock, folding rear sight, good warranty, and most importantly, a good reputation of reliability. My gun shop had about 5 or 6 that fit my needs, a couple Colts, a S&W, a Bushmaster, a DPMS and a CMMG. Price wise the CMMG and the DPMS were what I was looking for. After asking my trusty shop owner I chose the CMMG. He told me that he had NEVER had a single complaint or return of a CMMG and actually had only heard rave reviews. In his opinion it was a great, solid reliable rifle for a great price and he prefered over the DPMS even tho he couldve sold me that rifle for more$.
Since my purchase Ive put about 500 rounds thru it. Not a single hiccup whatsoever. Accuracy is what one would expect with iron sights. Ive done a few upgrades which I HIGHLY recommend. First, I replaced the mags with MAGPUL polymer mags with the clear slot that allows to see remaining rounds, very helpful, great fit, function flawlessly and ....well, look F-ing cool. I also, while waiting for new handgaurd funds to accumulate, added a picatinny rail on the bottom of the handguard and installed a MAKO vertical grip. The grip GREATLY increased my accuracy and handling as well as...looks NASTY. The rail and grip only ran me about 50$ or so. Both available at cheaperthandirt]u know what[com.
